Chances are most of the items hanging in your closet were made in either China, Taiwan, or India, & were produced under unethical working conditions. Most believe that this type of clothing production is necessary to provide us with affordable clothing choices, but the USA manufactured brand, Trybe, is paving the way for a new ethical way of producing fashionable & affordable clothing for modern day women of all walks of life.

Trybe's founders and designers, Molly Kircher & Rebecca Clark, are related through marriage. Clark has an extensive background in design and has worked under a number of infamous names including Vera Wang.

Returning home, to Michigan, after a decade of being engulfed in the fashion design industry, Clark and Kircher decided to start their own clothing line in 2011. They were inspired to start a line of their own based on the aesthetic & lifestyle they were living, which was a mix between big city & midwestern values. They were also heavily inspired by the diverse group of women who are a part of their large family. "They all come from different backgrounds but share a commonality of outlook on life, championing each other, & modernity."

To convey this inspiration and to create a meaningful connection to their clothing, having all aspects of the label's brand produced in the USA was an important component to building their clothing line, so that's exactly what they did. Clark opened a sample shop, Michigan Fashion Proto, in Lansing, Michigan, where her sketches for Trybe come to life. The merchandise is then produced & manufactured right in Michigan as well. Clark focuses mainly on the production of the collections, while Kircher works on sales & marketing. They are the perfecty dynamic duo!

We had the opportunity to ask them a few additional questions about their inspiration + journey:

{SS}: Favorite part of the design process?

"Seasonal inspiration and gathering looks and colors to reflect the whole collection. The art of the design process."

{SS}: Any advice for young aspiring designers on how to get started in the industry?

"It's a tough thing to break into and truly the best way to get started is to find a good mentor and work for them to really learn the business in every way before trying to launch a line."

{SS}: Personal style icons or where does she find personal style inspiration from?

"Style inspiration comes from mining pinterest and observing life in motion all around us to see what our tribe likes to wear. We'll take an element of this and a piece of that to try to create that piece that she's always grabbing. It might be something we already own that we want to make better or more wearable."

Trybe is a very versatile brand that attracts a wide range of women. The brand provides women with classic, simple, wearable pieces, that can be worn in a variety of ways, with a variety of things, for a variety of styles. Trybe can be described as effortless, fresh, & all American.

Trybe has released five 30 piece collections for Fall, Holiday, Resort, Spring, & Summer. Each collection reflects each season through a neutral & muted color palette with inspiration stemming from modern classics & colors found in nature. Their newest collection for Spring/Summer 2016 depicts the warmer months in a soft, subtle, & feminine way with airy, lightweight fabrics, nautical stripes, and a color palette that reminds of us of a day spent at the lake in Northern Michigan. See the 2016 Spring/Summer collection below.
