Neiman Marcus ~ Spring Trend Event 2015: with Ken Dewey ~ {Somerset Collection, Troy}
If you ask me, the best way to spend a cold winter night is to gather with a bunch of fellow bloggers and pretend that Spring is here- and better yet, fashion is in focus!
Ken Dewey, Style Advisor for Neiman Marcus, gave us an exciting first look at the trends to look forward to this Spring!

1970’s making a full-on fashion revival with “The New Bohemian” which Ken described as the “Gypsy Spirit Meets the Jet-Setter”
Absolutely loved some of these looks- colors & fabrics were so rich! The idea of year-round suede is in, starting this spring! I love being able to keep pieces in my wardrobe that can function all year round, and a light suede biker jacket is perfect!
Favorite On-Trend Accessories for “The New Bohemian”
- The Bucket Bag!
- All Things Fringe– Sandals, Bags, Necklaces!
- Long-Layered Necklaces
“ If one is good, three is better!”- Ken

- All White Everything. I think this is the most anticipated trend of Spring Mixing different hues of the universally-flattering shade is huge right now, and will definitely have it’s place in the Spring!
Favorite Designers Showcasing “All-White-Everything”
Brunello Cucinelli and The Row are two notable Premier Designers that are inspiring the all-white scene. Meanwhile, the most notorious it-bags in fashion are getting made over in white, just in time for spring
- Brunello’s mix of tulles, cashmere, and cotton makes for a soul-stirring monochromatic look
- The Row nails the neutral look with classically perfect, simple silhouettes
- Saint Laurent presents the classic Sac du Jour “en blanc” and it is the epitome of perfection

The Unexpected Spice Market. I am a sucker for the unexpected, especially when this means that I can carry some fall & winter pieces over to my spring wardrobe.
Warm & exotic hues inspired by Middle-Eastern & African Spice Markets are usually showcased in the fall, but this spring you’ll notice this trend en fuego!
Side Note: Spice Markets are among the most mesmerizing places I’ve explored overseas. Total sensory experience. This trend couldn’t have come any sooner!
Featured “Spice Market” Inspired Looks
- Vibrant colors that you find in a spice market are trending for both women & men this spring
- The appeal of a “Lady in Red” will never lose it’s appeal, especially with this stunning cocktail dress/cape combination!
- The accessories stuck out to me as an easy way to incorporate the trend into the everyday

Mix, Don’t Match. Not what your mother may have told you, but you can do it anyways this Spring! Better yet- Ken says, “Let the designers do it for you!”
Favorite Designer Mix’s
- Stella McCartney, among other key players, dive into this trend by introducing mixed-print separates which are fun to wear together as a statement, or mixed in with your classic pieces for a more subtle look
- A bold jacket/dress combo mixes geometric squares and stripes perfectly so you don’t have to do any of the work! Love this look paired with all-white accessories so the pattern really speaks
Robert Rodriguez and the topper os Etro. Celine Handbag. Manolo Blahnik BB pumps
My Favorite Looks of the Night!
- The stunning patterned two-piece, straight from the Marni Runway!
- All things Brunello, which comes at no surprise as Neiman’s top-selling brand. Also, take note on the FRINGE!
- Ken’s fabulous Etro Jacket. I am a total sucker for a peaked lapel!
What I wore ~ I may have jumped the gun on my "Spring Outfit" in Arctic Temperatures:
Top & Jacket by H&M, Jeans by Rag & Bone, Pumps by Manolo Blahnik, Bag by Chanel, and Nail Lacquer by Cindi’s Naturals! (locally Made!)
I had the best time representing Styleshack! Look forward to contributing again!
