While it isn't officially fall until September 22nd, the weather has already shifted here in my great state of Michigan. While some days still feel hot and humid, the mornings and evenings are cooler. Hello, layering pieces!

We asked our good friend Robyn, from Dim Sum and Doughnuts, to model our top three pieces for fall (SHAMELESS PLUG: all will be available at our Fall Pop-up on September 17th in downtown Birmingham!) and of course, she was down. She also brought her funny, fiercely independent and always adorable little girls, who modeled some super cute looks from Guys N Gals

The first thing you need is a great sweater. This year we are seeing a lot of chunky knits, cowl necks and oversized sweaters. Robyn paired hers with a great pair of black leggings and sneakers for a typical weekend playing with her girls. However, this sweater will also look great at work with slim black pants or a pencil skirt and heels.

Grey and White Cowl Neck $78, Black Cowl Neck Sweater $68, and V-Neck Sweater $89, all from Athalia's Boutique.

In my humble opinion, the Blanket Scarf is one of the best fall/winter wardrobe staples you can buy. Wear it as a shawl, as Robyn does here, or when the temperature really dips (or you work in a frigid office), wrap it around your neck and you will instantly feel warmer. And just like Goldilocks once said, "this one is just right!"; the size and weight is perfect as a shawl, but won't feel like a neckbrace when you wear it as a scarf!

Grey Blanket Scarf $22, White Long Sleeve V-Neck Tee $78, Black Orchid Harper Skinny Boyfriend Jean in Reckless $72, all from Athalia's Boutique.

And now the best for last…this buttery-soft faux suede (for all of us animal lovers) jacket is our absolute favorite must-have piece for fall. It fits like a second skin and is so versatile, there's not much you can't wear it with. Of course we love how Robyn styled it with a great fitting pair of jeans and killer boots. You can also pair it with your summer dresses to wear throughout fall, or a great boho maxi dress. If you only get one new piece this season, make it a suede jacket. We love these three in particular, and all are under $100 – SCORE!

Brown Suede Tie-Front Jacket $74, Blank NYC Hotline Bling Leather Jacket $98, Blank NYC Maybe Later Suede Jacket $98 all from Athalia's Boutique.

We had a blast with Robyn and the girls, and you can too! Check out her latest post "Cleanin' Out My Closet" which offers some great tips and then come meet her and the girls this Saturday at our Fall Fashion Pop-up in downtown Birmingham. There will be free personal styling, shop for our favorite clothes and accessories from local boutiques, or just hang out. Oh, and don't forget to clean out your closet and bring your gently used clothing and accessories to donate to Threads for Teens
