Did you know that Detroit is considered the birthplace of Techno? Thanks to three lengedary friends who incorporated the use of analog synthesizers and early drum machines into their compositions, a new genre of music was born. Today, electronic music now pays homage to it's home land each year with an electronic music festival called Movement in the heart of downtown Detroit.
Since 2000, this tech fest brings some of the world's greatest techno artistis, DJs, and electronic musicians to it's stages and up to 100,000+ festival goers looking to dance the day and night away. Located in Hart Plaza, this festival is surrounded by the cityscape on one side and the Detroit River on the other, and the grounds are transformed into a techno raver's dream play land. Over the years, Movement has now become the best kept secret for EDM fans and attracts local Detroiters to hundreds of outside visitors each year.
This year's festival will be held Saturday, May 28th to Monday, May 30th and features 124 different electronic musicians over the course of the three days. Front runners include Mija, Adam Beyer, Maceo Plex, 2014 Grammy winning group Krafwerk, and many more. Detroit natives such as Carl Craig, Kevin Saunderson, and Stacey Pullen, {pictured below} honor their hometown & the craft of electronic music by pumping out their own rhymatic beats for their friends, family, neighbors, and fans alike. And with only 5 stages, this festival makes it managable to catch all of your favorite performers, unlike at larger scale festivals. In addition to the music, a variety of local food and beverage vendors will be present, as well as art installations that mirror and reflect electronic music as a whole. This year 
artist 2501 is collaborating with 1xRUN to unveil his latest incarnation of “La Macchini” throughout the festival grounds.
