{SS} What inspired you to start your company? How has it evolved over the years? {Kerry} After a year spent in Chicago, I returned home to the Detroit area to find few friends still here and little knowledge of where to go and what to do – so out of my own personal need to make new connections and understand where to go beyond Dick O’Dows in Birmingham, I started After 5 Detroit. 
To this day, After 5 Detroit is a website all about where to go and what to do around the metro and downtown Detroit area. Over the years, we have evolved to now include several other programs – Connect After 5, After 5 Intern Program and the After 5 Social Club – that all work to engage the downtown corporate community in fun and unique ways to enjoy all that Detroit has to offer.{SS} Advice to aspiring business owners?{Kerry} I would advise any aspiring business owner to do their homework before investing their savings, time and life into a new project. Make sure the idea is solid – more people than just your mom have to think it’s a good idea! And make sure that you can make the money you need to make to survive. Everyone thinks they have the next million dollar idea, when in reality, so few small businesses actually survive – so again, do your homework, make sure it’s a well-received and profitable idea.
{SS} In regards to your personal style, do you have a signature accessory?{Kerry} I used to wear my Michael Kors watch (gift from my fiancé) and a gold bracelet (gift from my parents) every day. Now I only wear my Shinola watch and engagement ring every day (both gifts from my fiancé)! I’m very simple with my everyday accessories, but I do have a collection of big and bold necklaces. {SS} A few items in your "Styleshack" A.K.A closet that you can't live without?{Kerry} I love dresses and I love statement necklaces!
