FASH BASH is the charity event hosted by Neiman Marcus & DIA Founders Junior Council with the purpose of raising money for the Detroit Institute of Arts. "Founders Junior Council (FJC) is a group of young professionals dedicated to introducing young adults to the Detroit Institute of Arts and promoting their life-long involvement with the museum."  Perks of this membership: being apart of the captivating art world, good company, good times and most of all, help shape the future of the historic Detroit Institute of Arts.  Each year, the FJC board puts together a series of events. One of them being, the infamous, FASH BASH! The FJC board is compiled of about 30 dynamic people who put together some of the best events to showcase their love for Art and the Museum. Blake Ellis, President of the Founders Junior Council shared his excitement with us, he stated, "this  year the tickets for FASH BASH were sold out faster then ever, record breaking!"  He is looking forward to a fun evening, the most anticipated fashion event in Detroit, at the city's most beautiful venue.   We were able to get the inside scoop on the upcoming event, with Neiman Marcus {Somerset Collection} Public Relations Manager, Lindsey Machacek.  Read our interview below: main{SS} How many years have you been involved at Neiman Marcus? As well as years involved with FASH BASH?{Lindsey} I am the Public Relations Manager, at Neiman Marcus in the Somerset Collection. I have been with the company for 7 years, working in the PR Department for 5 years and then being promoted to Public Relations Manager and have been in this position for 2 years. My MBA is in Marketing and Public Relations, and I received my Undergraduate in Apparel Merchandising Management. Neiman Marcus has been involved in FASH BASH for the last 4 years. We are so pleased to be included in the makable event and it has grown so much since our first year involved. We love being so heavily involved in planning with event that benefits the DIA, as it is our most important cultural gems as a city.unnamed-1

{SS} What is your involvement in FASH BASH, is it more than just the PR?

{Lindsey} It is so much more than PR! Neiman Marcus is involved in all regards of the fashion show, which includes: the concept, event layout, production, staging, lighting, sound, casting of models, model fittings, hair and makeup and pulling the show from Neiman's stock merchandise. We put on the runway and show what we have in the store for sale.unnamed-6The Public Relations team for Neiman's is involved in all aspects of planning, invitations, chairs, rentals, menu for the evening, cocktails, decor and promotion. We love to promote the event to our clients in the store as well to our local community. Myself and my assistant Katherine are the lead and driving force for the Neiman Marcus involvement and activity in FASH BASH. It is a big job to take on, but it is very rewarding and honorable to be included in such an iconic event for the DIA.{SS} What is was favorite moment or highlight from years past FASH BASH event?{Lindsey} Favorite past FASH BASH Moment was during our second year of involvement. The DIA was going through a millage vote for tax payer dollars, that would be put towards daily operations of the museum. No one was sure on how this vote was going to pan out, but gratefully the millage vote passed, and we were able to celebrate for the museum! We made fun custom t-shirts, that read 'Art is for everyone', the models wore these during the finale. It was a surprise for the DIA, the other sponsors, guests, etc. and it really struck a cord for many of the guests in celebration! 704009_10151261372734481_808271125_o

{SS} What are you most looking forward to this year for FASH BASH?

unnamed-13 unnamed-3

{Lindsey} Well, we have some surprised up our sleeve, that I'm so excited to reveal to everyone! This year I am looking forward to the end product reward of our hard work. Having the event be well under way, the fashion show finished and executed successfully and taking a deep breathe. Being able to have it all pay off and be proud of the product we produced! I love being able to be involved with such a ravishing event and being able to have so much involvement. I just want to make the DIA and our city proud with our efforts for the community.

{SS} The fashion at this event is amazing! People get decked to the 9’s! How would you advise a new attendee to dress for this event?

{Lindsey} FASH BASH is an opportunity for your personality to shine through! I always say and firmly believe that fashion is an extension of one's personality. Have fun with it, anything goes! You will see very wild fashion and well as simply presented fashion. As long as your comfortable and you feel your best, it's allowed! Also, take advantage of the opportunity to dress over the top, pull out those glamorous cocktail dresses that haven't seen the light of day in a while, pull out some bright colors, make a statement and be yourself.

{SS} Can you share any insider details on the show this year?

{Lindsey} Yes! Ken Downing, Fashion Director and Senior Vice President of Neiman Marcus stores is attending this year, and personally styling the show. We are putting on a 'Neiman Marucs Art of Fashion Runway Show.' With Ken styling the show, anything goes, you will see trends for the season and focus on our well-known designers like: Alexander McQueen, Gucci, Stella McCartney, The Row, Wes Gordon, etc. Expect high drama, highly stylized and a much more elevated show than years past. We are so excited and cannot wait for showtime!
