Styleshack founder Rachel Schostak was invited to be apart of Techweek Detroit on Thursday sitting in the Future of Fashion Tech Panel alongside some amazing people. The panel hosted by Erik Torenberg CEO of Rapt. FM, included Chris Roebuck CEO/Co Founder of Clicktivated, Phillip Simpson from The Smile Brand and Freshman Clothing, Eric Yelsma founder of Detroit Denim Co., talented founder from Thrift on the Ave., and Rick Williams designer of Distinct Life.The panel discussion ranged from topics of the immense amount of opportunities in Detroit and the great support that start ups and new brands get in this city. Rachel quoted "I've lived in New York, I've done that and I choose to start and base Styleshack out of Detroit because there is nothing like it here and the communities support is something I wouldn't receive in New York." The panelist pushed the importance of supporting local fashion and keeping the talent here and growing together.Eric Yelsma, Detroit Denim Co. Founder pointed out the lack of a non existent garment district in Detroit, but that he started his business here because he's from Detroit. Wanting to support the local community, doing something he loves and bringing quality denim to consumers locally.
Chris Roebuck of Clicktivated, shared with us a new technology that his company specializes in. Consumers being able to watch a video and select the items, people and products within that video to get more information on and even purchase these products. Further engaging the consumer into videos and media.
Phillip Simpson from The Smile Brand that is yet to release and go live ended the panel with "and don't forget to smile!" ~Rachel and I did just that taking selfies of ourselves at the conference. (Using the Samsung Galaxy Note Pro via Verizon Midwest!)
Rachel and I both enjoyed our Techweek Detroit Experience, we especially enjoyed documenting the experience using our Samsung Galaxy Note Pro throughout the conference to snap pictures, record videos and live tweet and post on our social media sites.
