If you had to make a wild guess about Kate Spade's favorite day of the week, you'd say Saturday, right? Evidently it is because she so aptly named her latest collection after it to channel "the carefree spirit of the weekend." But then again who doesn't love Saturday? Even more so since Saturday just became more affordable, brighter and chicer.
Think of Kate Spade Saturday as Kate Spade New York's younger, spunky, hip sister who adores bold prints, bright colors, graphic shapes and finding fun in fashion. It's a little more tomboy than girly girl and has a sexier vibe than the ladylike silhouettes found in the classic New York label. This new lifestyle brand includes clothing, accessories – handbags, watches, beauty, shoes, travel, eyewear – and home goods. Amazingly, the price point is "about 5o percent below" the Kate Spade New York brand and is primed to target consumers between the ages of 25 to 35.
"Through ongoing research, we saw an opportunity in the market to engage a new customer base—one that aspires to be a part of the Kate Spade New York brand," said CEO Craig Leavitt. "Kate Spade Saturday is born from the core values of Kate Spade New York, but is realized in a new and exciting way for this younger customer."
Kate Spade Saturday launched internationally in Japan in February 2o13 and made its U.S. debut this past March.
We're totally geeked over the wallet-friendly prices and fun, playful, colorful prints! We wish every day was Saturday! Please tell us what you think about this new sub-brand.
