{Julie}: The Jean Trade in began 26 years ago. My sister Sheri came up with the idea. It has always been important for us to give back to the community and we continue to keep the tradition going.  Another great thing about the event, is, over the past 25 years it has been a family centric event, were all of my sisters children volunteer their time to help out during the guysngalsmeaningful afternoon! My husband has also been recruited to help on the crazy hectic but  GREAT DAY!

{SS}: Nothin' like those supportive husbands! Can you tell us more about the charities you have raised money for over the past years?

{Julie}:  The first few years, we donated to The Baldwin center.  Not only did we collect jeans but we asked people to clean out their closets and bring in all their give aways. We have collected essential baby items like high chairs to household items such as linens. This specific charity inspired me along with my family to visit The Baldwin center every Christmas and donate food. My husband at the time was in the food business and he would get people to donate cases of baby food and other important food items. It was good for my children to see how fortunate we are and show them at an early age that it is important to help other people less fortunate.Over the years the charities have changed. Baldwin center had closed and we started donating to New Bethlehem and more recently to the Light House.  unnamed-17

This year we are donating to the Homeless of Oakland County, Macomb County and Wayne County.

{Julie}: Jean Trade in day, is high intensity  and very exciting! People are literally lined up before the store opens to get their first choice of jeans. It is exciting to see the donations come in. We hang a giant zipper on the wall and color the teeth of the zipper as we collect the jeans. The jeans just keep piling up along with the bags of giveaways. It is a fun filled day and what is not to like about –> sunnamed-14wapping out old jeans for NEW jeans @ 50% OFF! <– All for a good cause! We hope to see some of the local Styleshack subscribers and shoppers on Saturday, May 16th!
