Say goodbye to last years Marsala, and hello to not one, but two 2016 Pantone colors of the year – Rose Quartz & Serenity. For the first time ever, Pantone has chosen to blend the pigment of a creamy rose with the cooler tones of a serene blue into an indulgently dreamy Pantone color combination. 

According to Pantone, the duo provides a soothing and tranquil feel, while also reflecting the current cultural shift towards gender neutrality.  They believe many of us are craving this peaceful vibe as a result of our stress-filled lives. In layman's terms, Pantone is really just trying to tell all of us to chill out and relax.

Whether paired together like on the runway of Vionnet's Spring 2016 show, or one at a time in a more monochromatic look, these colors are sure to flatter. They work well in a variety of textures and materials as you can see on it-girl Kendall Jenner. She has been spotted about town wearing a variety of quartz colored outfits from a long sleeve velvet dress, to a breezy jumpsuit, to a metallic skirt and sheer top.          Photo: InStyle

To successfully incorporate the 2016 Pantone colors with your current wardrobe, shop for solid staple pieces in rose quartz or serenity. A great coat, blazer, statement necklace, or fur vest can be mixed and matched with a variety of colors that you already have in your closet. Don't be hesitant to try new textures and fabrics like suede, cashmere and faux fur. Silky fabrics make rose quartz and serenity look sophisticated and super feminine. Add a bright shoe or a sparkly bag to really make these Pantone colors pop!
