It's no secret that Michigan is one of the leading makers of great tasting and quality craft beers. With breweries scattered all throughout the mitten, {Well known breweries include Atwater, Shorts, Bells & more}, one of the newest kids on the block {opened February 2015} is a local, small batch brewery called Batch Brewing Company.

Located in Detroit's historic and charming Corktown neighborhood, this nano brewery is constantly rotating their tap and introducing it's visitors to new, flavorful, handcrafted concoctions that they cook up in their very own taproom. From piney pale ales, to hoppy IPAS, to fruit based wheats, and even wheat wine, Batch Brewery provides a little something for everyone's taste buds. And since Batch only brews a small amount of each beer, they are able to play around with different ingredients, creating unique and interesting options that keep their customers coming back again and again.

And with good beer, there has to be good food. The small, but impactful menu, crafted by Chef Matt, a Detroit native, is built and designed to pair well with handcrafted beers. From salty soft batch pretzels served with strong ale cheese and spicy mustard, to the mouth watering pork belly bolilo featuring labrosse farm tomato jam, this menu feeds the vegetarians to carnivores, appetizer lovers to the sweet tooth, and everyone else in between. In addition to the excellent menu selection, the options are also extremely budget friendly with the highest menu item at only $12! Check out the full menu here.

The atmosphere of Batch Brewing is intimate and laid back. With no TVs and communal seating, conversation is king. Large picnic tables fill the space, encouraging you to chat with your friends and make new ones sitting at your table. By incorporating a shipping container into the build of the space and featuring exposed pipes and metals stools, Batch perfectly combines the industrial feel with the warm woods, creating a warm and friendly atmosphere.

In addition to all of the "coolness" that Batch Brewing is bringing to the city of Detroit with it's small but impressive brewery, they are dedicated to making a positive impact on the community around us. To do so, they have created an initiative called the Feelgood Tap, where each month Batch will partner with a different local non-profit or charity group and create a beer to honor that partner. $2 from each pint of the Feelgood Tap purchased goes to that local non-profit. As stated by Batch Brewing "Its pretty simple: drink good beer and do some good!"

This month's Feelgood Tap is a blood orange wheat beer that benefits the National Multiple Sclerosis Society, Michigan Chapter.

If you're looking to catch up with an old friend this weekend, or just to indulge in some good local, handcrafted beer and food, visit Batch Brewing Company. We promise, you won't be disappointed!
