Melissa Price has one of the coolest jobs around. As CEO of dPOP!, she's on a mission to better the workplace by designing cool, collaborative environments that reflect and embrace the client's culture. She is responsible for leading the design and overhaul of over 1.6 million square feet for Quicken Loans and Family of Companies! Just since 2013 when the company launched, their work has recieved three BOMA Detroit 2013 TOBY awards and was featured in Inc. Magazine's "Worlds Coolest Offices". Needless to say, she is one busy lady travelling all over the country. Despite her hectic schedule, she always manages to look incredibly stylish and put together.
We recently caught up with Melissa so she could share her go to business travel tips with us.
{SS} Where is your next business trip to?
{Melissa Price} Computer Electronic Show in Vegas – January 6th through the 9th.
{SS} How do you typically pack for a business trip? What are your go to looks?
{Melissa Price} CARRY ON ONLY! I love to travel efficiently and can usually travel for an entire week with just a single carry on bag.
Some of my favorites right now are: Paige black denim skinny jeans, Lululemon – always have at least one workout/travel comfy outfit. Will Leather Goods – I bought the braided oxford shoe. Great for walking and perfect with a black dress I got a Willy’s.
{SS} What are your personal must have accessories for travel?
{Melissa Price} It’s all about the technology tools and ease of getting to my stuff. It’s all about the bags within the bag, too. I always sort my things in individual bags within my travel bag. Being able to quickly get to tech chargers, or to quickly get a nail file is important. My current bags are different colors and different sizes.
Bag 1 Canvas– All stuff Tech. Chargers, extra batteries, etc.
Bag 2: Little drawstring – Holds all things girly. Lotion, lip balm, nail file etc.
Bag 3: Douglas and Co – holds my business cards
Bag 4: A pull out clutch to go out with that holds my drivers license, credit cards, etc.
{SS} Can't leave home without…
{Melissa Price} Rosie! My dog goes on all my business trips with me. She has a Detroit Leash and takes photos in a lot of the places we travel. Bose noise canceling earbuds & chapstick.
{SS} What are your go-to travel tips?
{Melissa Price} Always pack the night before. TSA Precheck is worth every second it takes you to fill out the form.
{SS} Coolest place you've ever traveled to?
{Melissa Price} The London Olympics in 2012.
{SS} What is your dream destination?
{Melissa Price} A beach destination where my technology won’t work.
