9Meet Lindsay Skulnik, devoted and loving mother, with a strong passion for fashion, she has been able to combine her greatest joys in life, by establishing the perfect {and coolest} Children's online store, ChasingSkully; keeping in mind, trendy kids fashion and mom approved brands! We had the opportunity to interview Lindsay and find out how she got started in the Fashion business!

{SS}: Share your brief career journey and what is your current role today?5

{Lindsay Skulnik}: I have always loved fashion and styling since I was a little girl. After working for over 7 years in Fashion PR, specializing in celebrity dressing & product placement, I decided to leave the position to focus on my family and new endeavors. I began looking for a creative outlet to fill my passion for fashion. Since the birth of my son I have found excitement and joy in picking out his outfits and styling him everyday. Shopping for and styling children’s clothing allows me to be creative in a fun way, without any of the stress that came with my past work experience. ChasingSkully has allowed me the opportunity to have the career I have always dreamed of while still being able to spend a lot of quality time with my son.

{SS}: What was your inspiration for your business? How did you come up with ChasingSkully?

unnamed (2){Lindsay Skulnik}: My son is the true inspiration behind ChasingSkully. When he was born in June 2013 I searched everywhere to find affordable, on-trend clothing that was cool and comfortable. I started following a bunch of small, indie mom-made labels on instagram and ended up purchasing most of his clothing through those shops. I began to receive compliments constantly on his clothing and moms would ask me for information about the brands and the shops.

4After launching an instragram account focused on my son's style in February 2014, I spent countless hours researching different mom made labels and found that there was a gap in the fashion industry for children’s clothing. I could not find one website that featured a well-curated selection of these cool brands. That is when I decided to launch ChasingSkully. I wanted to provide moms with a hassle free one-stop online shop where they could find a hand picked selection of these adorable hip brands. ChasingSkully is a go-to e-tail store for moms seeking affordable, hip & unique kids clothing.

I want my customer to have a hassle free shopping experience, and access to a carefully curated collection of mom-made brands that they won't see anywhere else.  I also want my customer to feel comfortable knowing that these brands have been selected based not only on style but on comfort and movability.

{SS}: What do you love about your job?

{7Lindsay Skulnik}: I love that my job allows me to be creative and flexible with my time. I find excitement in scouring social media for new brands. Working with children’s clothing is whimsical and fun… It is so different from my past work experience, which was so serious and high-stress. My job now feels like the job I was always meant to do and I wake up each morning excited about the day ahead. I am extremely motivated to expand ChasingSkully and to hopefully help other moms find cool children’s clothing in a much more accessible way. The best part is that I can do all of this while still remaining a full-time mom.

{SS}: Your secret to work/life balance? Photo Credit: Stefanie Gaffan

{Lindsay Skulnik}: The balance between work and life isn’t easy, especially since I do most of my work from home. I try to set aside time each day to spend with my son without any digital devices. I have found my most productive work hours to be when he is napping or in bed for the night. My husband and I had also developed an effective relationship/work balance well before ChasingSkully was formed. We make an effort to have weekly date nights and I also cook regularly for the two of us. I also think it's important to prioritize self-care.. I work out regularly and am dedicated to eating a healthy and nutritious diet. Self-care should be a number one priority for all moms because we can only be our best for our children when we are doing the best we can for ourselves.

Now onto your personal style…

{SS}: In regards to your personal style, do you have a signature accessory?

maje-alec-ecru-peasant-blouse-product-1-6944877-506325143{Lindsay Skulnik}: I would say my personal style is classic chic with an edge. My style has also evolved a lot since my son was born. I find myself buying things that have more movement and comfort as I am now much more active and can never be sure when I may need to break into a run to chase after my son. I would say one of my signature pieces is a gold lariat necklace with sapphires that was my great grandmothers. I wear it day to night to dress up any outfit… Its very vintage boho chic!

{Lindsay Skulnik}: One of my favorites on the site is our exclusive “Chase Me” design, which we co-created with ZM Apparel. It is an easy cool unisex tee that is comfortable yet still stylish. It was named after my son, Chase, who I will forever be chasing! For the boys one of my favorite pieces are Little Adi’s grey dye harem shorts… these were one of our best sellers. They were the perfect fun summer piece.  For Palms_Skirtthe Girls.. I love Ollie Jones Palm Print Skirt. It is adorable & comfortable while still being Black_Splatter_Pants_SLM_Pants_2015.4.11cool.

The material is super soft and easy to wear. I picture them with an adorable bloomer underneath. Another favorite unisex piece are the Sweet Luka Mo’s grey splatter paint leggings. They are fun and edgy and look great with anyTiedyeharem_Shorts_Little_Adi color top. We have re-ordered them in a different color way for Fall/Winter.
