Here at Styleshack we have two mantras: the given, is that we have a passion for fashion. But it takes more than just an interest for fashion to fit in with the Styleshack team! We also like to consider ourselves as food enthusiasts- (because in all honesty, who doesn't love food??)

As we're reaching mid July, the perfect time for summer picnics, barbecues, and pool parties, you're probably wondering, "what the heck do I bring to a party that will surely be a hit?" And if you're not wondering that, well hopefully you can take away some new recipes to try, whether for yourself, a crowd, or simply  to Wow that special someone with a home cooked meal!

This time, instead of a "What to Wear" Style Guide, we've decided to take a different approach to Summer Style, with What to Eat!

No. 1: Chicken Salad Stuffed Avocado  Back in January, when I was visiting Atlanta, I ate at this restaurant, The Buckhead Saloon, where they served, chicken salad stuffed avocado what easily became one of my favorite meals, a Chicken Salad Stuffed Avocado. They had me at  Avocado. Three halves of baked deliciousness, filled with a southwestern chicken salad and topped with corn salsa, and I was in food heaven! I then took it upon myself in search for stuffed avocado recipes. Although I have found a variety of stuffed avocado recipes, thanks to Hella Wella's 17 Unbelievably Delicious Ways to Stuff Avocados ,that are on my "to try" list, my favorite is still the Chicken Salad Stuffed Avocado. 7488be02c82e46c569deee45a03da999The combination of chicken, peppers, and mayo stuffed in our favorite creamy fruit, it's surely a meal you'll want to try! smoothie 1No. 2: Smoothies  Now, Smoothies, are my ultimate forte. I have an assortment of Smoothie recipes that could stand as it's own post. I use a variety of fruits: strawberries, raspberries, bananas, blueberries, crushed pomegranate seeds, mango, pineapple, or a combination of these, whatever strikes my mood! I typically add along (some if not all) of the following: Honey, Vanilla Yogurt, Coconut Oil, a Tbsp. of Peanut Butter (for extra protein!), Chia or Flax seed, Cinnamon, Milk (Rice, Almond, or Regular) smoothie 3and on occasion I will throw in a bit of kale or spinach or a tsp. of Lavender Kombucha. I like to play around with a combination of these items, and don't always use them all at once, but more often than not you will find most of these ingredients thrown into my smoothies, that are not only satisfying to the tongue, but to the tummy as well!

As an avid peanut butter lover, I stumbled upon this recipe in the health and fitness section of - (yes, a Seventeen Magazine) - and knew I had to try it! I used to make this snack wrap for my family all of the time! It's as simple as it sounds: all you need is peanut butter (or alternative choice of spread) on tortilla, topped with sliced apples (or bananas), rolled into a wrap, and voilá! a simple, yet tasty snack! It's even more delicious if you warm it in the oven for a couple of minutes! But be careful, that can get messy!

pb shake2No. 4: Peanut Butter Banana Shake If you enjoy a nice Shake to cool down in the summer, and if you're a fan of Reese's Peanut Butter Cups, then you will probably enjoy my Peanut Butter Banana experimentation. With 1 to 2 whole bananas and approximately 1/3 cup of peanut butter (adjust accordingly) blended with ice, plain or vanilla yogurt, honey, cinnamon, and a bit of chocolate milk, now you have a dessert like shake that you don't have to feel guilty about!

No. 5: Baked Brie Guava Pastry guava Skip the brownies and cupcakes for dessert and try this delicious fruity pastry! The best part, is it's super easy! I use a frozen puff pastry (thawed) that you can by at your local grocery store (but if you want to try making it from scratch, then the more power to you!) and center a small wheel of brie inside the pastry. You will need to line a baking sheet for the pastry to lay on and brush the edges of the pastry with a whisked egg, first. Once the brie is centered, top it with guava paste (I use Margie's Guava Fruit Spread) and carefully fold the pastry over the brie and guava. Make sure the pastry is sealed before putting it in the oven! The first time I tried this, I had guava oozing like hot lava. Heat the oven at 400 degrees and bake for 20-25 minutes, or until lightly golden. You can find the full version and a variation of this recipe at honestcooking.com
