We recently interviewed the smart, stylish and very lovely, Nina Rand. She is a mom, wife, marketing consultant and style blogger at The HSS Feed, a blog about happiness, success and style. Read her spotlight below.

{SS}: Can you tell us a bit about your background, how long you have been blogging? What inspired you to start a blog?

{Nina Rand}: I have been blogging since 2011. I started the HSS feed with my sister as a fun project we could work on together. She has since started her own food blog unnamedand I’ve been working on the HSS feed on my own, for about two years now. When I started the blog, I was working in oil & gas marketing in Houston, Texas. My job was great but creatively not exactly what I needed, so the blog became a bit of an nroutlet for me. I love fashion and style, but I also really researching and trying new beauty products.

{SS}: Best part about your job?

{Nina Rand}: There are so many great things about my job. One thing I really love is that I never know what my week is going to be about. I’m always getting to begin new partnerships and meet new people, which I absolutely love. This job also gives me fantastic flexibility to do what I love but also be home with my son and spend lots of time with him. I’ve been so fortunate to have our days together and I know I’ll miss that when he gets into school full-time in a couple of years.

nr3{SS}: Who is the woman reading your blog?

{Nina Rand}: The woman reading my blog is likely a young professional with a lot on her plate including work, friends, family and hobbies. She loves style and is always looking for new products to try. I hope to inspire my readers to add a bit of style or something special to every day, no matter how crazy it may be.

{SS}: YOUR secret to work / life balance?  Also what is your favorite style or fashion App?

teuxdeux-iphone-0{Nina Rand}: Lists. So. Many Lists. I try to make a home list, work list and “random” list that I have running throughout the week. I also just ordered a new Get To Workbook planner and it is really helpful for project planning and keeping me on track. I also like the TeuxDeux app for creating to do lists on the go!

{SS}: In regards to your personal style, do you have a signature accessory?

{Nina Rand}: I wear a lot of neutral colors, but you will often see me wearing a hot pink snakeskin bracelet from Houston-based (where I used amy-b4to live) brand Presmer. It’s just the right pop of color and it feels like a little something special, no matter how simple an outfit may be.

{SS}:  A few items in your "styleshack" A.K.A closet that you can't live without?

{Nina Rand}: For summer, I’m a big fan of a good caftan and I have one from Kiki Lynn that I wear for long car rides but also dress up for dinners. T by Alexander Wang t-shirts are my favorite and I have an ever-growing collection of them. I also absolutely love Athleta’s metro pants. They’re great for helping you stay looking put together on those workout and errand days and weekends.

{SS}: Who inspires your style?  Favorite Style Icon?

{Nina Rand}: I love to see what Olivia Palermo is wearing. I also always look forward to new blog posts on Atlantic-Pacific. Blair’s style (and her flawless layering) is always so chic and cool.
