Meet Karina Dyk, owner of the trendy, chic, indie-boho boutique, Maven Boutique LA. We are excited to welcome our very first Cali based shop to Styleshack!
{SS}: Can you share with us your career background and how you got started?
{Karina Dyk}: I think I’ve always loved fashion, but it wasn’t until college that I really soaked up technical knowledge through fashion design classes, books, magazines, and professors. Instead of going to fashion school though I decided to study business so I could open my own company. After college, I fell into a marketing which was my career for 7 years until I finally got around to following my dreams of opening a boutique! So I began planning, and the ideas kept flowing. Suddenly, all the things that 
had been obstacles before seemed so small to me and doors began to open as I put my plan into action. 
{SS}: When did Maven Boutique LA open and how has your store evolved since?
{Karina Dyk}: I hit the street running in August 2014, doing the first buys, planning the first pop-up event, and sketching out the beginning of the online shop. On November 1, 2014 Maven had a launch party and thanks to the support of family and friends the party was super successful and word began to spread! In January 2015, we were invited to set up the 
shop in a small art gallery in Malibu, CA and our website launch was shortly after that!! I think those are the main factors that really elevated us to the point we are at today.
{SS}: Wh
at do you love about your job?
{Karina Dyk}: I get to spend all day studying fashion and being creative!
{SS}: Who inspires you in the Fashion/Design world?
{Karina Dyk}: Diane Von Furstenberg. She has so much class, and I love her sense of style!
{SS}: Who is wearing your products? 
{Karina Dyk}: Our “maven” girl is the everyday girl with refined edge. She loves the classic look and quality neutrals, yet occasionally she’ll shimmy into a maxi dress with a sexy slit or slip on a fiery heel.
{SS}: What are
your current favorite product(s) in store?
{Karina Dyk}: From our summer collection, I love the Pool Party Romper. It has a fun floral pattern that looks good and doesn’t overwhelm the eye I also love the sultry looks in our Fall 15’ Collection—I’d recommend our Olive You Trench (Coming soon!) or one of our Seductress Bralettes!
{SS}: Are there any new lines that you will be selling this season that you are 
excited about?
{Karina Dyk}: We just started carrying Somedays Lovin and I’m obsessed with their one-of-a-kind fabrics! 
{SS}: Your secret to work/life balance or go-to app?
{Karina Dyk}: My friend introduced me to The Skimm this summer. Their daily email is a good debrief on world issues and it keeps me in touch with reality!
Now onto your personal style…
{SS}: I
n regards to your personal style, do you have a signature accessory?
{Karina Dyk}: I wear stackable Marley & Alfie bracelets everyday
{SS}: A few items in your "Styleshack" that you can't live with
out?
{Karina Dyk}: My Moschino black dress, any and all of my Ankle Boots, a black Rag & Bone Cross Body bag. From Maven Boutique LA— DL 1961 Skinny Jeans (Emma and Amanda), the heather Gray Amour Vert Tee and Good hYouman Skinny Dip sweats.
{SS}: Who inspires your style? Favorite Style Icon?
{Karina Dyk}: There are so many I draw inspiration from—Kate Moss, Alexa Chung, Poppy Delevingne, Olivia Palmermo, even Kate Middleton, but my #1 is Miranda Kerr!
{SS}: Style Archetype?
{SS}: Please pick your current favorite items on Styleshack?
{Karina Dyk}: What’s not to love?!! If we could only pick a few pieces though, I’d say these are the must-haves for Fall

{Karina Dyk}: My friend has cute lifestyle blog called Bowed Arrows. She writes on an array of topics, from vacation spots, to the best recipes. I always learn something new! I also love that it encourages positivity among women! (See “Women Crush Wednesday”) because, we are all due for a little more encouragement and a little less gossip! 
{SS}: Favorite fashion social media app or social media site?
{Karina Dyk}: “Latergramme” It lets me organize and plan my Instagram posts!
