Budin, 114 Greenpoint Avenue
This Nordic coffee shop is home to a $10 latte, but there are plenty of other great drinks that are more affordable and can help you refuel—and a slice of Torst’s Danish rye bread with butter is the perfect snack. Alter, 140 Franklin Street and Graham Avenue
This boutique stocks items for men and women from MinkPink, Cheap Monday, Happy Socks, and their own house Alter brand. They just announced they’ll be opening a store of items designed by owners Tommy Cole and Roy Claires in the site of their former men’s shop at 109 Franklin Street.
People of 2Morrow, 65 Franklin Street,
Husband and wife owners Sybil Domond and Daniel Lessin have worked carefully to curate their eclectic blend of vintage and imported items from Africa and India and often highlight little-known designers. Clothing, jewelry, textiles, home goods, apothecary items, and even some children’s pieces are all beautifully displayed in the attractively designed store.
Jane’s Closet, 135 Grand Street
Browse affordable and stylish pieces like Lucca Couture jumpsuits, Gypsy05 bathing suits, and Yosi Samra flats at this cute Williamsburg mainstay that’s been on the scene for five years. Their bag selection is particularly unique, with pieces from Sabrina Tach and Stela9.
Five Leaves, 18 Bedford Avenue
Nibble on oysters and kale salad while you scope out the great street fashion. And if it’s after 5 p.m. (or earlier—who are we to judge?) make sure you get a cocktail, the Purple Rain and the Five Leaves Bloody Mary are legendary.

Space Ninety 8, 98 North 6th Street
Yes, this is technically an Urban Outfitters. But you may not recognize it among all the locally designed pieces, gigantic hair and makeup section, and the gorgeous bar and restaurant. Local Brooklyn artists featured include Cold Picnic and Psyche Jewelry. And don’t leave without trying the bacon-wrapped matzo balls from the Gorbals. Yeah, it’s a thing.
