We sat down with the wonderful and cool entrepreneurial ladies, Megan Bonanni and Jennifer McManus [M&J] to learn more about their new activewear venture and experiential retail concept called, Capsule Detroit. If local to Michigan, you may have heard of their infamous "Pop Up" experiences they are hosting around town. Owners, Megan & Jennifer share with Styleshack the story of how Capsule Detroit evolved and how they balance their 9-5 job with their growing business! {Of course they share some of their personal style notes and favorite product picks}. 
{SS}: Can you tell us a bit about your background? How did Capsule Detroit come about?
[M&J]: We are great friends and are also employment attorneys. For years we have worked in the legal field and worked out together, and both craved a creative outlet independent of our lawyer lives! We also were interested in new fitness fashion inspiration beyond the regular mainstream offerings.
{SS}: Best part about your day job?
[M&J]: We get tremendous satisfaction out of helping people who have been wronged in the workplace, whether through sexual harassment, discrimination, or an employer’s failure to pay appropriate wages.
{SS}: Best part about launching Capsule Detroit?
[M&J]: Creating this concept of a small collection of very cool but functional pieces and bringing it to all to Detroit. In the process we have discovered so many new amazing fitness lines, and worked with other inspirational business 
owners in the Detroit area. As friends, conceiving of and navigating this joint venture has been an incredibly bonding experience.
{SS}: Currently can you list a few of your FAV pieces?
[M&J]: This is a particularly difficult question because part of what we try to do at Capsule is select our favorite pieces from various designers. This week, we are crazy about Michi tops, OUT Blazers and Rogiani winter leggings. 
Next week, we might be loving our Chill by Will crops. We love the fact that all of our gear is NOT widely available in metro Detroit.

{SS}: What do we have to look forward to for spring?
[M&J]: We are introducing at least two new 
fitness/fashion lines to Detroit, in addition to the ten lines that we launched with in September. Look forward to getting to know Heroine Sport and Solow! We are also going to open studio/storefront in downtown Birmingham, upstairs from My House of Style. The space is going to be a multi-functional space for dinner parties, yoga and pilates sessions, private meditation sessions, and of course shopping!
{SS}: YOUR secret to work / life balanced? (Do you have a go-to App?)
[M&J]: I guess if you can call Microsoft Outlook an App, then that’s our secret! It’s really just about staying organized and maintaining great communication with our families and with each other. We both have a sixth sense about when the other person has a lot on her plate, and somehow know when to step up, and when to step back. Also, eating healthy, enjoying lots of laughter with friends and family, and EXERCISE!
Now onto your personal style…
{SS}: In regards to your personal style, do you have a signature accessory?
[MB]: large gold hoops.
[JM]: I always wear my grandma’s wedding ring.
[J&M]: We both often wear our identical Buddha necklaces that we bought after our launch at My House of Style.
{SS}: A few items in your "Styleshack" A.K.A closet that you can't live without?
[JM]: Great jeans are worth the investment! My current favorites are Rag and Bone skinny jeans and Citizens of Humanity 
distressed slim boyfriend jeans. Throw on a t-shirt and some ankle boots and I'm ready for the day. For work, I very rarely wear a suit, and prefer black slim pants with a blouse, or a pencil skirt with over the knee boots and a blouse.
[MB]: Anyone who knows me outside of the yoga studio knows that I nearly always wear high heels. My work uniform this winter at work consists of black straight pants or pencil skirts and great structured but flowy tops with layers of necklaces. Off duty is all about Capsule gear, Rag and Bone jeans, leather jackets and waterproof suede high heel ankle boots that I cannot seem to take off.

S}: Who inspires your style? Favorite Style Icon? 
[MB]: Jane Birkin, Gwyneth Paltrow and Angelina Jolie. Jane Birkin
[JM]: Detroit is filled with professional women who have excelled in their chosen professions but maintained their individuality, which I respect. In regards to
celebrity style, I love how polished Victoria Beckham always looks and Katie Holmes has really grown into her own sense of style.
{SS}: Style Archetype?
[JM]: Edgy – no surprise! I love to mix leather and chunky jewelry into almost every outfit!
[MB] Classic- not sure how this happened!

[J&M]: Well & Good
{SS}: Favorite local restaurants?
[JM]: MEX, Inn Season, Vinsetta Garage.
[MB]: Inn Season, Cacao Tree Cafe, MEX and Assador.
{SS}: Work out of choice? Where?
[J&M]: yoga- We practice at Blue and at Center for Yoga, and we love morning private sessions with Samantha Arin, a CFY teacher.
[JM]: I also try to squeeze in some intense workouts with Zach Shandler at Art of Strength in Birmingham.[MB]: I run and for the moment I have ditched music in lieu of podcasts like Serial…its addictive!
{SS}: What would you tell your 23 year old self?
[JM]: “You have an amazing ride ahead.”
