Re-Pop-Room-repoproom-vincetta-deanna-ansara-beautiful-contemporaries-imagination-in-space-3Styleshack had the opportunity to interview, Brooklyn based Designer, Deanna Ansara. She is a Michigan native, FIT alum and Designer of new brand called, Vincetta {think; beautiful silhouettes for the modern woman}. Read our interview below to learn about her first collection and the journey to starting her own company.

{SS}: Can you give us a brief background on your career and of course,  how the company was established?

{Deanna}: I began interning and taking freelance projects while I was in school, at F.I.T. (Fashion Institute of Technology). New York City is the perfect place to begin a career in fashion. The opportunities are endless. I worked for companies such as J.Crew, Ralph Lauren, Tory Burch, & Design Factory.  During this time, I was always designing my own pieces and slowly started developing the idea of the brand I wanted to create.  The summer of 2013, I decided to put all of my focus into Vincetta. Ever since, the brand has made great strides.static.squarespace

unnamed-3{SS}: Inspiration behind the name Vincetta?

{Deanna}: The name of the brand was inspired by the Vinsetta Garage on Woodward Avenue.  This was the first location of my first photo shoot back in 2008, when it was still a historic car shop.  The name Vinsetta always stuck with me.  We changed the spelling to Vincetta and came across a quote, "To Win. To Conquer."  This was not only a great motivational quote to apply to myself and business model, but also the type of brand I wanted to create.  A brand to empower and celebrate women.

{SS}: Inspiration behind the premiere collection?

{Deanna}: The inspiration is always finding ways to flatter the figure.  Everything is a fresh take on classics that we, at Vincetta, believe every woman should have in her wardrobe.

{SS}:  What is it, that you most enjoy about the design process? What types of material do you use?7

{Deanna}: Developing the direction & trend forecasting is the most exciting part.  I also adore draping as this is where I get most of my inspiration from.  I try my best to use all natural fibers in the Vincetta collection.  I love a beautiful textured wool, a fine cotton or wool twill, & the feeling of a washed silk crepe de chine or charmeuse.

{SS}: Who is the lady wearing your collection?

{Deanna}: The Vincetta Girl is well traveled, cultured, and appreciates quality.  Her style is refined, timeless, and effortless.  She is the kind of woman who knows who she is, which shows through her personal style and the way she carries herself!

{SS}: Which piece(s) from your collection, are YOUR absolute favorite?

{Deanna}: The pant suit.  I believe all women should own a great suit.  Vincetta suits are strong, powerful, and timeless.

{SS}: Which pieces do you wear most often?

{Deanna}: Collared Shirt, Blazer, & High Rise Trouser.

{SS}: Anything else we should know about your brand?

{Deanna}: Vincetta clothing is not only of high quality, but is also sustainable and ethical. Everything is currently produced in New York City, with hopes of bringing more production to Detroit.  We 100% support the Made in USA initiative and strongly believe that the people making our clothing should be treated and payed fairly. Now onto your personal style….pleated+shoulder+coat+navy+front

{SS}: In regards to your personal style, do you have a signature look or accessory?

{Deanna}: My signature look is a white collared shirt and black jeans or high rise trouser.

{SS}: A few items in your “Styleshack” A.K.A closet that you can’t live without?

{Deanna}: This winter in particular, I can not live without the Vincetta Shawl Collar Coat. You won't find anything else like it!

{SS}:  Who or What inspires your style?  Favorite Style Icon?

{Deanna}: With age, I find myself wanting a smaller, but stronger wardrobe.  "Simplicity and timelessness" inspires my style. khKatherine Hepburn is by far my favorite style icon.  She was truly ahead of her time.  She was independent and refused to conform to society's expectations of women. She was ahead of her time, intelligent, talented, and stunning.

{SS}: What is your Style Archetype?

{Deanna}: Romantic Chic.

{SS}: Favorite Mobile App?

{Deanna}: Instagram

{SS}: Favorite local restaurant?

{Deanna}: Two Door Tavern & Fornino.  Both are in Williamsburg, where I currently live.

{SS}: What is your secret to work/life balance?

{Deanna}: Starting a fashion company is extremely time consuming, so this is something I'm constantly striving to achieve.  As of now, it's making sure to set aside a least a couple of hours each evening to spend time with family, relax and watch movies, go out for dinner, etc.
