IMG_1066-2{SS} What inspired you to become Chief Sales Officer of your company?

{Danielle} My good friend Coco founded PrettyQuick a year before my joining. She was in business school at the time and I was in the midst of a Finance career. I was actually her target consumer! She asked me to sit on her advisory board and that's when I fell in love with the idea. I've always had an innate passion for the beauty industry but never realized how exciting it could be to harnass that passion into trying to come up with a solution for a fragmented consumer marketplace.

{SS} What do you love about your job? Challenges you face, being a CSO?
{Danielle} I love my job so much because I believe in what we're doing. We are a true partner and marketing tool for all of the 300+ salon partners and small business owners we work with. We are a brand accretive partner, focusing on editorial content and curation rather than discounting. I love that our users trust PrettyQuick to suggest not only where to go but why. We help businesses use technology to market what they do best.

Working with small business owners can also be challenging. Many of them have not yet fully integrated technology into their businesses. It can be difficult to get them to change behavioral patterns and trust both you and your brand.

{SS} In regards to your personal style, do you have a signature accessory?

{Danielle} Where do I begin! My grandfather was a jeweler and my mom has passed down several pieces to me. One of my favorites is a tiger's eye necklace he made for her bearing initials of a nickname he used to call her, "DD". Unbeknownst to him, I would be born many years later and have those exact same initials! I wear it and always think of my family.

{SS} A few items in your "Styleshack" A.K.A closet that you can't live without?

{Danielle} Haute Hippie blouses, Helmut Lang leggings, Rag and Bone Jeans, Phillip Lim and Isabel Marant skirts, Sandro leather jacket, Traffic People dresses for work and my Valentino shoes.

{SS} Who inspires your style?  Favorite Style Icon?
{Danielle} Definitely a mix of old and new. I am always inspired by iconic classic beauties like Audrey Hepburn. I also appreciate the playfulness and trendiness of modern day fashionistas like Olivia Palermo, Blake Lively, Miranda Kerr, Gwenyth Paltrow and Emma Watson.

{SS} Beauty essentials?
{Danielle} I think the French do it right. When I was in Paris I got hooked on some of the more classic products like Serge Lutens eyeliner, Chanel lipstick and Nuxe oil. I also recently got introduced to Tom Ford lip gloss and shadows, which I love. And my perfume of the moment,  Tom Ford's Mandarino di Amalfi.

I love playing around with products, but when it comes down to actually wearing makeup, I think less is more.

{SS} Favorite "local" boutiques?
{Danielle} In Chicago, Ikram is great, they carry such uncommon labels. I also like p45 and Milk Handmade.Screen Shot 2014-09-08 at 12.00.22 AMScreen Shot 2014-09-08 at 12.01.45 AM
{SS} Summer read, for pleasure or business?
jpeg
{Danielle} Pleasure. When Coco and I started working together we realized we both shared an unusual love for the author William Faulkner. We promised each other we'd reread A Light in August by the end of August and discuss!
