Being 22 years old and having one of your beloved Professor's during your Senior Year tell you that you have the opportunity to go to Las Vegas, NV for February's MAGIC Market Week… lets just say I experienced a whole new fashion high!
For those of you unaware of what MAGIC is let me explain. MAGIC is the largest trade show in the fashion industry that attracts vendors, buyers, professionals in the industry and celebrities. "See what the world will be wearing," MAGIC's slogan truly means what it says, the buyers attending will determine what is put into our retail stores come Fall.
As a group of 12 students and 1 faculty member of our Apparel Merchandising and Design department we travelled to Las Vegas to experience MAGIC together and in summary it was beyond anything I could have imagined.
None of us had ever been to Las Vegas or MAGIC so we were all just diving right in without any guidance. We were visiting for 6 days, 5 nights and let me tell you that is a long time to be in the city that never sleeps.
We only went to MAGIC a total of 2/4 days it was occurring. The first day (Monday) students were not able to be inside the show. And Tuesday the day we arrived in Las Vegas we were terribly jet lagged. So Wednesday was our first day, and Thursday our second (aka the last day of the show).
I got to met a variety of designers, brands and companies that I would not have known existed without this show. I got to see some of my favorite brands, but could not enter their booths because they wanted privacy for only Buyer's, which was a bummer. But below are a collection of some of my photos from the experience.
They had artists painting and drawing in the POOL Trade Show.
More of the Large WWD MAGIC signs that I loved!
This sign, at one of the Showroom's vendor booths cracked me up.
In sample heaven!
Here is the group I went with, 12 students with Professor Carol Beard.
Can really get a feel of how big it is from up. And this is only one room.
Throughout the show there were DJs, Entertainment, Food and Refreshments.
A menswear visual booth display I loved!

If anyone ever has the opportunity to attend MAGIC, take full advantage of it. I hope to be back again, sometime soon!
And some of the favorite people I talked to/met were: Martine Ali Jewelry, Ginny Wong Showroom, home., The Shelf, Proof Eyewear, and Laurie Hasson Showroom.
