A charming town by the water, the quaint community of Grosse Pointe offers a lot of wonderful local shops.
I had the pleasure of walking through "The Village" and popped into a few great stores.
1) Els Boutique
El's Boutique began as a small section of Village Toy two years ago. It did so well, the owner has expanded it and it now fills about half of the store. Specializing in tween clothing, El's Boutique is fun and girly, but also offers apparel for adults as well. Besides the furniture, everything is under fifty dollars, making it affordable for young girls to shop there themselves. Some of their products that caught my eye, were, "Candi Belts," or belts that are made out of recycled ties. Founder and designer Carolyn Royer had been making belts for many years, but only recently did she begin to sell them as her business. Since then, her products have increased in variety to include flip-flop sandals, yoga mats, headbands and dog collars. For more information on Candi Belts, check out their website here.
2) The Village Palm
One of the best selling Lilly Pulitzer boutiques in the entire country, The Village Palm sells all things preppy floral and colorful – most of their merchandise being Lilly Pulitzer with a few Vera Bradley products sprinkled throughout their stock. The success of The Village Palm is aided by their consistent and promising promotions which they advertise on their Facebook page. If your in the neighborhood and looking for something fun, youthful and fabulous be sure to stop by The Village Palm and sift through their Lilly Pulitzer prize winners!
3) SHE Boutique
Having only been open for a couple of months, SHE Boutique of Grosse Pointe has already seen success bringing a bit of luxury to the local area. Specializing in women's apparel, handbags, accessories and intimates, SHE features items ranging from casual denim to occasion-specific dresses.
A beloved Michigan favorite, Moosejaw carries a wide variety of outdoor gear and fashions ranging in brands from Northface to Patagonia to Columbia. Founded in the Great Lakes State, Moosejaw has expanded to numerous retail shops in a wide variety of states. Moosejaw doesn't only carry outdoor adventure merchandise , but also casual apparel including their own cozy, self-branded Moosejaw sweatshirts.
5) Dawood Boutique
Dawood, a family business for 50 years, is known throughout the area for its stunning array of women's fashion and accessories. This fabulous retailer combines the glamour of Beverly Hills with the sophistication of New York to provide you the right clothing for today's many different lifestyles. Dawood also carries an extensive line of beautiful accessories and handbags at a variety of price points.
