I'm tickled pink. Wait, no, scratch that… I'm tickled "green" that Emerald is this year's color! It was officially chosen by Pantone Institute and according to the bible of color, this shade of green is "Lively. Radiant. Lush…A color of elegance and beauty that enhances our sense of well being, balance and harmony." I couldn't agree more with this. Green has been -and still is- highly revered in multiple cultures and societies. The ancient Egyptians viewed it as the color of renewal, new life and fertility. Many Asian cultures associate it with prosperity, health, beauty and harmony. In Greek and Roman mythology, green is the color of love – akin to Venus and Aphrodite. All of the aforementioned attributes clearly succor the significance of this season's chromaticity! Furthermore, spring is the season to be affiliated with renewal, beauty and love!
Best of all, this specific hue of green is complementary amongst every skin tone and color. A brilliant aspect of this pigment is that it truly works from head-to-toe. If you'd ask me last year if I felt the same about 2012's color of the year, Tangerine Tango, I would've swiftly vetoed that. With Emerald, without a doubt it is a hands down yes! I view it as the new black. For the corporate chic, I think a fitted blazer and matching pants, or a pencil skirt, would be a grande power statement. For an evening look, you really have a multitude of options to choose from (ranging from styles, lengths and textures). As pictured above, the variations of styles speak for themselves. What I love about the five styles is that they utilize the basic colors as accents – black, white and gold. Personally, I believe Emerald is absolutely stunning, breathtaking and regal. It just exudes elegance, strength, sexiness and sophistication. Especially, displayed via a bold lace design and mixed with other textures, such as satin, sequins and silk. It is the epitome of the "WOW' factor in my book!
If immersing yourself head-to-toe Emerald isn't appealing, it's perfectly acceptable to incorporate it as an accent piece to your attire. If you want to slowly test the waters of the chroma scheme, that's fine. You would be just as audacious sporting an Emerald high heel, statement necklace and/or handbag. Even pairing an Emerald green sweater with jeans or leggings would be a statement in itself. Most importantly, have fun playing with ways to intermix it into your wardrobe. I have to disagree with Kermit the Frog, because it is easy being green.
